My America:
· Is chasing fireflies on a summer night.
· Sleeping with the windows open.
· Driving with the top down.
· Shelling black eyed peas on the porch with grandpa.
· Walking barefoot thru a fresh plowed field.
· Singing in church.
· Singing in the shower.
· Just Singing.
· That first kiss.
· Watching high school football.
· Watching little league baseball
· Street dances in little country towns.
· State fairs.
· Not letting the flag touch the ground.
· Neighborhood cookouts.
· Mama’s banana pudding.
· Learning to drive on a country dirt road.
· The smell of fresh cut grass.
· Ice cold soda on a hot August day.
· Skipping rocks.
· Pitching washers.
· Swimming in a lake.
· That first beer.
· Long winding country roads with no hurry to be anywhere.
· Christmas at grandma’s.
· Trick or Treating.
· New itchy clothes on Easter Sunday at Church.
· Family pictures.
· The smell of a new puppy.
· Going fishing and not caring, if you catch a fish.
· First love.
· First breakup.
· My first child.
· Riding on a tractor with Grandpa.
· That first car wreck.
· That first touchdown.
· That first homerun.
· Hometown pride.
· Small town Pride.
· Being baptized in the river.
· People seeing Ellis Island and lady Liberty and knowing they are home.
· Paid for with the blood of my family.
· Watching the sunset from a back porch.
· Asking an old friend “how’s your momma doing” and meaning it.
· Helping your neighbors, when they need it.
· Driving all night just to “be there” for a friend or loved one.
· Vacations with the family.
· Cuddling on a cold Saturday morning.
· Respecting your elders.
· Respecting your Teachers.
· Holding the door for someone else.
· Stopping to change a tire for a woman.
· Being proud to be a Christian.
· Scrapes and bruises only momma can heal.
· Being sad but proud God chose one of mine to come home.
· Going to the drive in movie.
· Hugs from all the Aunts.
· The last day of school.
· The first day of school.
· That first fight.
· New friends.
· Old friends.

With everything going on in today’s world, while we are being attacked from within by people who are selfish and illegitimate, it comforts me to remember some of these things.
